In this study, we analyzed the importance of adhering to international standards for packing and packaging in the dates sector in order to increase Algeria's exports outside of hydrocarbons, and this is through a field study of a sample of export institutions in the field of dates in my states (Biskra and El-Wadi) as they are the largest producers nationally, and to show the extent of their commitment to the standards In the field of international packaging and packaging (ISO standards), especially since Algeria is in negotiations to join the International Trade Organization, which imposes strict standards in this field, and the importance of this study lies in Algeria’s attempt to free itself from the absolute dependency on fuel in the field of exports, as the dates sector is one of the sectors. The promising country in which Algeria has a competitive advantage in terms of quantity and quality, but in recent years we have noticed the deterioration of Algeria’s exports of date products and their derivatives, in contrast to the increasing exports of neighboring Tunisia and its ranking in the first place in the world in the export of dates even though its dates are of less quantity and less quality than ours. This is because it adopts advanced methods of packaging that comply with international specifications and standards.

Therefore, we tried to reach an optimal strategy in packing and packaging that respects the chain of production, storage, marketing and export, as well as adheres to international standards in this field.
